"A year from now, you will wish you had started today." - Karen Lamb
Happy New Year, Friends!
Several quotes like the one above inspire investors to start early.
The best time to plant a tree ... blah, blah blah.
You've probably heard one or two.
While they might seem cliche, they are true.
The sooner you start, the better, and that's true for more than investing.
People like to make fun of New Year's resolutions, but they can turn out great.
Last year my resolution was to write more, and my Grammarly app says I wrote 250,000 words {Stops typing to pat himself on the back}.
Writing led to a lot of great things in 2022
New friends (across the globe)
New Challenges (Writing cohort, drawing cohort, financial statements cohort. I guess I like cohorts)
Chats with some of my investing heroes
A mention on my favorite investing podcast
Two (extremely part-time) freelance writing positions
Lots of learning
Looking back at 2022, I can't imagine what would have happened if I hadn't started.
I plan to double down on writing this year. I'll continue building my investing framework and share each step of the journey with you. I am also planning on creating more resources to speed up the learning curve for new investors (Like me a couple years ago). I'll share more in future issues.
Are you thinking about starting something today? My advice; Go for it!
Thanks for being a part of this community! I am grateful 🙏
I wish you and your family a Happy 2023.
A few of my favorites from 2022
Building the Perfect Echo Chamber - How I turned my Twitter timeline into an incredible resource.
The Investors' Library - Featuring John Rotonti - My attempt at giving back to the investing community. I’m hoping to build a library of resources to help others.
Why We Misunderstand Each Other and How it Impacts Our Investing - This was my favorite one. I love thinking about thinking.
The 3 Frameworks of Rule Breaker Investing - This is a compilation of several months of work. Each link contains a breakdown of the Rule Breaker framework and is what sparked my journey.
Powerful advice, Jason. I agree that writing is a less obvious but extremely consequential action someone can take to produce results. It’s great you saw so much return on that investment last year.
Out of curiosity, what was the financial statements cohort you took? Asking as a fellow cohort-addict 🙂
Great Job Jason. Your consistency and optimism is so encouraging! Keep it up. I really appreciate how you have curated the RBI podcast. I remember when this was just an idea , now look at you! Awesome!
