The Investors' Library: Evaluating the Strengths and Weaknesses of a Business and Industry
Hey Friends,
I am still working my way through "The Investment Checklist" by Michael Shearn, and I have included my notes on the 3rd section detailing ways to analyze the strengths and weaknesses of a business and industry.
While the examples in the book are dated, the bones for creating an investor framework are still there, and I highly recommend the book for investors looking to improve their process.
If you missed the first two summaries, here they are:
The Investors' Library: Understanding the Business - The Basics
The Investors' Library: Understanding the Business - From the Customer Perspective
I've also included my notes for those wanting to use David Gardner's 25-Question Risk Framework. It has a spreadsheet for tracking and resources to help answer all 25 questions. This is for investing nerds, so it won't hurt my feelings if you don't use it. But if you do, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Ok, here are the promised notes on section 3 of Shearn's book. I hope you find them helpful. I'll tackle section 4, "Measuring the Operational and Financial Health of the Business," next.
Happy Investing!
